WGC-Accenture Match Play round two: here's 16 I didn't pick previously

Thursday February 22, 2007 | 08:50:27 282 words, 1213 views

I’ve started so I’ll finish! After yesterday’s total devastation of my picks, you’d think I’d just retire hurt. But I am a glutton for punishment. And no half measures this time. So, for no particular reason other than what else would I do with a lunch break, here are my picks for the next round.

Jones bracket: Woods, O’Hern, Baddeley, Choi. I really wanted to say Tim Clark would beat Tiger after seeing off Robert Allenby, but cowardice has triumphed. I’m a bit iffy about the Baddeley-Donald encounter too since both made rather heavy weather of things Thursday.

Hogan bracket: Mickelson, Howell, Poulter, DiMarco. Most people are saying Lefty will fall to our Justin, but I’m hoping there’s life in the not-so-fat fella yet. Garcia-Howell is a tough call, as is Poulter against the Els-killer Dredge, but you can’t sit on fences in this game. And I couldn’t possibly back a Welshman who sounds as if he should be chugging up and down a river doing something useful (sorry Bradley).

Player bracket: Furyk, Toms, Ames, Cink. Feel fairly safe with the first two, going for Vijay to have an off day against a happy looking Ames (I know, I know), and, well, Harrington struggled Wednesday.

Snead bracket: Micheel, Casey, Goosen, Ogilvy. It’s surely got to be the Scott-slayer, Micheel hasn’t it? And Ogilvy seems to have his eye well in already.

So there you have it, 16 more hostages to fortune for us to have a good laugh or cry about Friday. And before worldgolf.com editors start moaning about there being no links, sorry guys but there’s only so much you can do in a lunch break (besides eating lunch that is).
