Troon Golf promotion to benefit Phoenix Children's Hospital
If you’re in the Phoenix/Scottsdale, Ariz., area, here is your chance to take a bit of a gamble on a par 3 hole at area Troon golf courses.
It’s really not much of gamble at all since the $10 donations for Troon’s Hit the Green promotion go to a good cause, the Phoenix Children’s Hospital. But if you’re successful, there are valuable prizes at stake.
Golfers who land their shot anywhere on the green get a 30-percent-off certificate at the host facility’s golf shop, while those who stick their shot inside 10 feet of the hole win a 2014 National Troon TwoSome Card, valued at $595, which is good for greatly reduced green fees at Troon Golf courses around the country.
“So many families have been positively impacted by the care and work that Phoenix Children’s Hospital is committed to providing day in and day out,” said John Easterbrook, executive vice president of operations for Troon. “Even within our own family of Troon associates you will find examples of how Phoenix Children’s Hospital has helped them or a loved one through a challenging time in their lives. That being said, we are honored to help raise awareness for their mission and also raise much needed funds for their cause.”
In 2011, Hit the Green for PCH raised $20,000, and $45,000 last year. The fundraising goal for 2013 is expected to reach $50,000. Funds will be presented to Phoenix Children’s Hospital during the 15th Annual Phoenix Children’s Hospital Annual Golf Tournament held Friday, Nov. 22 at Troon North Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
The promotion is in effect until Nov. 17. Even if you miss the green, you still get a gift certificate good for 15 percent off in the pro shop.
As for which facilities are participating, there are plenty of them, including Troon North, of course. In all there are 13, including some of my personal favorites like Ak-Chin Southern Dunes in Maricopa, Talking Stick and the Westin Kierland in Scottsdale, and Whirlwind at Wild Horse Pass in Chandler.
