Texas' Tapatio Springs golf resort gets the Troon touch
Here’s more evidence that The Resort at Tapatio Springs in Boerne, Texas, near San Antonio is being transformed into a top-notch operation. Yesterday it was announced that Troon has been selected to manage and market the 27-hole resort golf course, which is now owned by country music legend George Strait and his business partner Tom Cusick.
The resort is located in the Texas Hill Country about 30 miles west of downtown San Antonio. (Here’s a story I wrote on GolfTexas.com after its grand re-opening.) It features dramatic elevation changes and beautiful water hazards that were incorporated by course architect Bill Johnston.
“The Resort at Tapatio Springs is an exciting addition to our portfolio,” said John Easterbrook, executive vice president of operations, Troon. “We are confident that combining the club’s amenities and charming character with Troon’s skill and expertise will result in an extraordinary experience at Tapatio Springs.”
Originally developed in 1981, the property uses the area’s limestone cliffs, towering oak trees and clear springs to form a quaint and intimate golf resort for visitors and local residents. Amenities include a 6,000 square-foot conference center, dining venues serving continental cuisine and local specialties, a clubhouse with a fully equipped golf shop, outdoor dining areas, men’s and women’s locker rooms and a fitness center.
Tapatio Springs is offering some pretty reasonable stay-and-play packages that include accommodations in its newly renovated rooms, unlimited golf, breakfast and full use of the practice facilities. Other activities available for guests include tennis, hiking, horseback riding, and more. For more information or to book a stay, call 1-800-999-3299.
