A little more Spirit makes for an easier Myrtle Beach golf vacation
Good news for folks living in Texas who would like to take a golf vacation to one of America’s favorite golf destinations: Low-fare Spirit Airlines will begin offering three nonstops a week from the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport to Myrtle Beach, S.C., starting May 3.
It used to be difficult to get to Myrtle Beach. Most of the time you had to connect through Charlotte, N.C. or Atlanta to get there, and it was usually an expensive fare. Now there is a lot of options, which is great, because if you’re looking for a pure golf trip, it’s hard to beat Myrtle Beach for the money.
Myrtle Beach is widely regarded as the “birthplace of the golf package,” marrying an unrivaled array of courses with accommodations ranging from beachfront holes to on-course villas. With nearly 100 golf courses – from the Dunes Club to Caledonia Golf & Fish Club – lots of reasonable accommodations, an underrated dining scene and many other entertainment options, Myrtle Beach is a good choice – especially for buddy trips.
“Dallas-Fort Worth is one of the nation’s premier golf markets, so it’s a natural fit for Myrtle Beach,” said Bill Golden, president of Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday. “The addition of non-stop, low-cost flight service will open our fairways to one of the game’s hotbeds, and we can’t wait to expose Dallas-Fort Worth area residents to the quality and value of a Myrtle Beach golf trip.”
