And now for something completely different -- a Club Med golf vacation
PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. – Imagine an all-you-can-eat, all-you-can-drink, all-the-fun-you-want kind of vacation. That’s what it’s like at Club Med Sandpiper Bay, and then some. All I know is that this cruise ship-on-land experience is unlike any resort I’ve ever seen.
First off, it’s the only remaining Club Med in the United States (there used to be one in Colorado). Here, there’s almost any activity, food or drink you can imagine, and it’s all inclusive. It’s not only all you can eat and drink – which you can do at the resort’s international restaurants and bars – but all you can play, which is the most important, And that goes for guests (they call then gracious members) 3 months to 99.
The new spa and newly renovated Club Med golf course are exceptions – massage treatments and green fees are separate – but the golf lessons are included in the package. Just show up during golf lesson time and get all the help you need from Club Med’s excellent teaching staff. Same with tennis, sailing, yoga, Sumba and a whole host of other fun stuff.
For the kids, there’s soccer, Le Petit golf and tennis, swimming, crafts ? you name it; there’s never a shortage of stuff to do. Then there’s all that circus stuff they do here. Yep, you heard right: No matter how old you are, you can be part of the flying trapeze, and then later watch the real experts do it at their shows. And at night, there’s live music, dancing and something they call crazy signs.
In short, Sandpiper Club Med, which has undergone a multi-million dollar renovation as of late, is Club Fun ? a real change of pace from the ordinary resort experience. You don’t even tip here, so there’s no need to carry your wallet around. Just a room key and a wrist band, and you’re good to go.
