Renaissance World Golf Village Resort adds outdoor meeting space
The Renaissance World Golf Village Resort and Convention Center in St. Augustine, Fla., has completed a renovation and expansion of its outdoor meeting, event and recreational space that brings the resort’s offerings to 101,000 square feet of meeting and event space.
The project included new and expanded outdoor function space with brick pavers and elegant new furnishings; a new fountain called La Piazza; a picturesque new gazebo; and a new and expanded pool deck with new seating areas.
The new outdoor function space, named La Terrazza, is able to accommodate groups of up to 2,000 guests and it features advanced technology and power capability, comparable to that provided in indoor ballrooms.
Together with the adjacent World Golf Hall of Fame, the AAA Four-Diamond resort is the largest combination hotel and convention center between Atlanta and Orlando.
“La Terrazza is absolutely beautiful, and is an outstanding new option for groups,” said Jeffrey Oliasami, general manager of the 301-room northeast Florida resort. “It is perfect for large or small gatherings of any kind. Whether the group wishes to conduct an elegant outdoor reception; host an al fresco breakfast, lunch or dinner; enjoy cocktails on the patio or poolside; host a VIP lunch at the new gazebo; or really host any kind of outdoor event, La Terrazza is an exceptional option for groups. Plus, it is also an ideal site for weddings.
“We did this renovation and dramatic expansion of our outdoor meeting, event and recreational space to cater to the many needs of our groups and guests,” added Oliasami. “Guests also will appreciate that they can now enjoy restaurant service for breakfast, lunch, and dinner on La Terrazza, cocktail service poolside, and a greatly expanded pool deck for relaxing or sunbathing.”
These enhancements follow other expansion projects, which included the addition of a new 450-square-foot Masters Board Room, the opening of a new The UPS Store and Business Center on-site, the addition of a new destination services and event planning department, and the opening of The Resort Shop.
To coincide with the enhanced meeting and event space offerings, the resort also unveiled a couple new programs. The Meetings Program is designed to provide distinctive and inspired programs for groups. And the White Glove Meetings Services includes complimentary transportation to and from Jacksonville International Airport for groups that contract for a minimum of 50 rooms per night for two nights and two banquet meals daily.
Located within the 6,300-acre World Golf Village, the resort also completed a $10 million resort-wide renovation in 2008, which included the complete remodeling of guest rooms and suites, a renovated lobby, newly-remodeled guest room corridors, an expanded workout center, enhanced meeting space, and the opening of 500 South Restaurant & Bar. The resort also boasts a remodeled nine-story atrium lobby.
World Golf Village also offers two championship golf courses, the Slammer & Squire and the King & Bear. There’s also The World Golf Hall of Fame and its 18-hole real grass putting course, a 132-yard Island Challenge Hole, an IMAX 3D Theater, and the Walk of Champions.
