Here's your chance to get paid for playing and writing about golf; simply Divine
What’s the best job in the world? If you’re a golfer, you might argue that it’s writing about travel and golf. But I’m telling you, it’s grueling, just grueling.
If you don’t believe me, here’s your chance to see exactly what it’s like. The Golf Channel is opening up its spot for one lucky reader who will have the chance to participate in this year’s mother of all golf writer junkets, the Carson City/Carson Valley Divine Media Tour between Reno, Nev., and Lake Tahoe.
Basically, the writers play two holes from each of nine courses in the Carson City/Carson Valley area. They are shuttled from course to course, but don’t worry, the coach is stocked full of all the necessary refreshments to keep everybody’s energy up.
The trip is scheduled for Oct. 3-5, when the weather should be spectacular. It’s exhausting, to say the least, but oh so rewarding.
Sound like an ideal assignment? Well, here’s what you need to do then.
To enter the contest, file a sample entry about your favorite golf trip, and try to make it entertaining. Tell us what was unusual, bizarre, hilarious and unique, but keep it PG, if you know what I mean.
The deadline for entries is Sept. 23. After that, those of us on staff here will judge the entries and announce a winner, who will have all expenses paid, including airfare and lodging at the Gold Dust West and Carson Valley Inn, plus $500 for the story he or she files. You’ll even get to stay a couple of extra days to play some regular kind of golf.
And if you’d like to see a sample, check out this entertaining article on BadGolf.com, written by Warren Phillips. To enter and for more details, click here. Good luck!
