Myrtle Beach pro-am golf tournament beckons
If you’re already sick of the cold weather and getting the itch to play golf in Myrtle Beach, S.C., this spring, here’s an event you might want to consider – the Mystical Golf National Pro-Am, March 13-16.
Here’s how it works: Pros play with amateurs for a full-field purse of more than $23,000. The format is two best-ball gross and net combined, and the event will be played with one round on each of the three courses. The registration and entry fee is $986 (double occupancy), which includes tournament rounds, four nights of accommodations at the Baywatch Resort, breakfast and lunch each day and a welcome reception and cocktail party. It also includes an awards banquet and gift bags for each competitor. Pros play for free.
The field is limited to 62 paid teams (248 players). A practice round is available on Sunday afternoon, March 13, for a $23 cart fee.
All three golf courses are excellent Dan Maples designs. The Witch sits on 500 acres of wetlands, and there isn’t a home on it. The Wizard, with its unique castle-style clubhouse, is a fun, player-friendly course with a finishing stretch that has a little bite to it. And Man O’ War has water on every hole, including back-to-back island greens.
