Great golf, good values on Alabama's Gulf Coast
If you’ve never been to the Gulf Shores, Ala., area to play golf, you’ve been missing out. And now that fall is approaching and the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico has been capped, the timing couldn’t be better for traveling to the Gulf Coast for a golf trip.
There are at least nine quality golf locations in the immediate area, designed by names such as Arnold Palmer, Jerry Pate, Earl Stone and Robert Von Hagge. Better yet, local operators work well together to bring in business. The result is that you can get a variety of accommodations packaged with golf for rates that start out below $100 per night per golfer. Some of the rooms even have Gulf views.
The courses include Kiva Dunes, Cotton Creek and Cypress Bend at Craft Farms, Lost Key Golf Club, Glenlakes Golf Club, Peninsula Golf & Racquet Club, Rock Creek Golf Club, The Golf Club at the Wharf, and TimberCreek Golf Club.
Many of these courses have their own luxury accommodations and some of them team up with local hotels. To check out the packages, click here.
