Troon North Golf Club growing the game with new Monument Express
As a longtime advocate of quality short golf courses, the announcement of the new Monument Express at Troon North Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz., is welcome news.
The recently opened executive-style golf course measures to a little more than 1,500 yards and has two different par options, depending on the skill level of the player, which is a pretty cool concept.
It’s a par 29 for the Advanced Player, a par 36 for the Progressive Player (a nice way of saying, “not so skilled").
For example, the third hole is a dogleg right par 4 at 268 yards for the Advanced Player, but plays as a par 5 for beginners and other types of players who may lack the skills and length to reach this hole in two.
The course is also very affordable, with a green fee of just $20 until Sept. 13. Best of all, it doesn’t take long to play.
Monument Express also serves as a perfect warm-up for the two championship courses at Troon North, the Monument and the Pinnacle courses.
