The bad weather is just starting to kick in here in the UK and agree it is a good time to take stock of your game over the last season and use that info to concentrate on the mental aspect.
Not quite sure about forking out 65 dollars for a profile though. I think I will be dusting down my Bob Rotella books and applying his method of thinking over the next few months.

Great tips! One thing that's helped my chipping is to keep my hands free of tension. I tend to be too mechanical with my golf swing including chipping. When I keep my hands loose, it seems to help me keep a descending blow to the ball.

Good article. Gary Player put Trevor on the map when he selected him for The President's Cup, a decision a lot of people disageed with since it made him exempt on the PGA Tour but he has proved Player knew what he was doing. The way things work in golf it's entirely possible Immelman wouldn't have been playing in the Masters if it weren't for Gary Player choosing him. Anyway I congratulate him on a great week. It is important to remember that it was only one week and that other than Tiger there are a couple of hundred players worldwide with approximately equal ability and any of them can win any tournament if Tiger is not clicking.

The Master's course has to defend from Tiger's talents and other players get caught in those conditions.

Players should quit the sissy whining and play professional golf. I'm tired of too many birdies and double digits under par. They make too much money every tournament to cry and pout.

Immelman dropped shots on Sunday, other players were supposed to make putts to catch him. They didn't.

The US Open will truly test players, most will be over par. The Master's can sort of do it too, when the wind blows, its tougher. They have to defend the course from technology.

It got to -11 under par, that's easy enough.

Immelman a prodigy, that's questionable, he's late in age on the PGA tour to win a Major. He needs to back the win up with other tournaments.

Tiger has a month off suddenly, much less competition!

I prefer Tiger's muni course teachings with his father as a background story. Having to send a child across the world for sports training is weird.

Now Immelman's whole family is in Florida apparently, he better choose to play a full PGA schedule.

What gives the victory great credence is the fact that he led right from the first round and never once relinquished his lead( at the end of the round anyway). He was rock Solid throughout the tournament except perhaps the last three holes when the enormity of the situation was suddenly understood. That sigh of relief on the 18th tee after the shot that found the fairway was perhaps a testament of the pressure that he though was beginning to choke him after the ball that found the water on the 16th.

The victory as you say is definitely not out of the blue. He had already served notice with a pretty good performance in the Master’s a couple of years back and even though his CV might not have read like that of a Master’s Champion he definitely had the potential and he showed that alright this past week at Augusta. Not many would have thought that in the present crop of players the South African most like to win the Master’s would be Immelman but he has managed some of his more fame contemporaries such as Ernie Els and Retief Goosen.

Despite the course playing relatively easy this year there were still many who believed that the folks at Augusta National had robbed the crowds of genuine excitement, something that was echoed by Jim Furyk and many other players who feel that over the last few years Augusta has lost it’s charm

I met Trevor Immelman at a Nike promotional, at a local golf club near Portland, Oregon. He was 24 at the time and had the maturity of a 40 year old. There were only a few there to see him as no one had really heard of him, including myself. What impressed me was how fit he looked. I felt then, that we would hear from him some day in the near future. Yesterday we did!

Thanks for this interesting article, Karen. I realise Trevor is better known on the European Tour, but would not have thought he qualified as a "came out of nowhere" on the PGA. His intensity is very apparent, and I was very pleased for his win.
