However, this past Columbus Day weekend, I was solely disappointed. It is a wonderful layout and always in great condition but on this visit the staff were unfriendly/rude and the round took 6 hours! I feel they are resting on their laurels after getting such high praise and are now close to pricing casual golfers away. While the course deserves positive reviews (challenging, scenic, great condition), it is poor value and now offers poor service. I first played the Crump when she was just a nine holer; and watched it grow into the 18 beauty it is today. I too moved away and still return every year to play this course. There are few courses around the world that conssistently ask of you on ervy hole to hit quality golf shots like the Crump. This is how the people at Bethpage must have felt for years. I've played this course a couple of times and it is one of the best courses in New England for many of the reasons you describe.
