Ryder Cup Europe announced that the 2010 Ryder Cup, to be held at The Celtic Manor Resort, Newport, South Wales, will run the week of September 27.
Of course, both sides in the biannual match-up between Europe and the United States have their sights set first on Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky, where the resumption of the rivalry will take place next year.
Europe has dominated the Ryder Cup matches in recent years, having prevailed in the last three, including a 18 1/2 to 9 1/2 drubbing of Tom Lehman’s American squad last year at the K Club in Ireland.
If you want to look to the last time the Americans were able to pull off a victory, you have to go back to 1999 and their dramatic come-from-behind victory over the Europeans at The Country Club outside Boston.
In related news, the sixth official Junior Ryder Cup has been announced for 2010 at Gleneagles, Scotland.
