You are quite right about better ways to spend the money than ajustable clubs. On the other hand, there are people who don't blink at spending a thousand or more on a round of golf.

Near where I live, there are private golf courses with multi-million dollar "cabins" that are only lived in an average of 6 weeks a year.

The question is, is it the average golfer buying the over-priced clubs, or is the very rich ones (the ones who spend money like it's water).

Why shouldn't a company provide superior products as an option to golfers? I like having the option of buying lessons and/or improved equipment based on my needs. No one is making me buy something I don't want. Golfers are smart enough to decide.

Nickent is charging $399 for two shafts, wrench and head. To start i'm surely going with Nickent.

There is a lot of hype here - The big OEMs will of course try to make a lot of money - that's biz

What we at Puku Golf (a putter company which now is more a golf patent filing company) have been paying attention to is the whole club - loft, lie, grip, length, and shaft.

Where this technology will pay off MOST is when used WITH the skill and experience of a club fitter

Something may be gained by the more advanced golfer by self customization but generally most golfers will be confused

I hope this does not mean this area is seen as merely an "empty" marketing fad, because it should be a lot more than that

I would be concerned myself having an interchangeable club that it would eventually give during play!!

The golfing population and number of rounds played is said to be decreasing and added to that what appears to be a receding economy golf OEMs want us to spend up to four figures for a driver to use 14 times a round?
Golf OEMs are beginning to remind me of American auto industry in the 1970's and may be totally unprepared for what the market wants and needs.
Do I want the latest and best? Of course, but I won't have it because like most of my fellow golfers we face more important priorities.
The OEMs should invest in market research that will improve golf and help it grow, not complain when no one buys their stuff.
