Not a whole lot different here in Buffalo, the Minnesota of the East. We have two public courses open. Betting is that the privates will stay closed longer, due to the number of trees that came down in last October's storm. The publics that can afford to stay closed will do so. Once again, the have-nots kick open the doors to make the early buck. God love 'em. Then we have the municipal courses...in spite of all the taxes we pay here, they somehow wait until late April to open, every year.

You poor Minnesotan golfers, I bet it’s really tough to have to put your clubs away for months at a time at least you have more of an excuse to vacation somewhere during that time when your weather does not allow it! Gourmet magazine is running a sweepstakes and you can win an instant trip for 2 to a top resort: http://condenast.eprize.net/gourmet/index.tbapp?affiliate_id=1v. One of the resorts is The Homestead in Virginia, and from what I hear it’s the ultimate mountain golf experience. The sweepstakes is easy to enter and even if you don’t win, you’ll still be entered to win a 6 night trip to a top resort. Good luck! I have the inside scoop because I work with Gourmet.
