Tiger Woods for President of the United States?

Thursday March 22, 2007 | 10:56:54 380 words, 8348 views

Tiger Woods golfer extraordinaire, promotional spokesperson and,
one day perhaps, political candidate!

A presidential bid by Tiger Woods certainly isn’t out of the question as he half-heartedly gave the nod in an exclusive interview with Today Show host Melissa Stark.

“I probably will have to become more political down the road when my playing days are done, because I’m going to have to have the support of others to grow my foundation,” claimed Tiger citing his Learning Center as the crux of the reason.

Is no-nonsense Woods giving us the whole story?

When recently questioned about his political aspirations at a National Press Club soiree Tiger conceded that he had exposure “meeting influential people in the political arena” but does not know where his “future lies".

Support for Woods’ new tournament is growing on Capitol Hill as excited fans such as Arlen Specter and Patrick Leahy “raised their heads from a murmured conversation outside the Senate chamber to watch him stride through the halls of the Capitol.” But will the heavy-hitting conservative right and liberal left both stand by Republican Woods if he chooses to go through the “diplomacy route"?

On his recent trip to Washington to discuss his new tournament, Tiger was “shocked” at the level of enthusiasm shown him on Capitol Hill on his way to appointments with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi, whose son moved in on a photo-op with the House Speaker.

Washington bigwigs equate Barack Obama with Tiger Woods as did Former Dallas Mayor Ron Kirk who claimed, “Mr. Obama has a Tiger Woods quality that makes him appealing to all ethnic groups.”

The bi-partisan affection for Tiger Woods can be most deeply felt by
“Rep. Joe Baca (D-Calif.) who has offered legislation at least three times to award Woods the Congressional Gold Medal, and about ten members have signed on as co-sponsors.”

All the good he has achieved so far is leading Woods down a path that will stand the test of scrutiny. In a world where Ronald Reagan, Clint Eastwood and Jessie Ventura have all found their political niche, who is to say that it is beyond the scope of reason that Tiger Woods, who has trancended the game of golf, should not find his way into the political arena?

I just have to point out that there is nothing conservative about Arlen Suspecter. With Republicans like him, who needs Democrats?

As far as Woods goes, he should stick to golf.

OK Stacey, I am going to do you a favor to attract more visitors....

'Michelle Wie will be a better President than Tiger Woods.'

(There, just sit back and watch people visiting and voice their disagreement for such an outrageous claim.)

Wunderkind doesn't have the pull of Chris Baldwin, so it won't work. However, all these updates about Woods are smoke and mirrors. He is still a tool in the hands of the true power brokers. However, he is not an electric tool (meaning he has some personal power) and not just a hand-driven one. If he decides to cross over into the egomaniacal, evil-maniacal world of politics, then little Eldrick will be lost forever. Let's hope that the birth of a child will not drive him to push the child, but instead will ... ah, forget it. We all can guess at what could, should, might happen.

OK Stacy, no one seems to bite. However, I think we did prove the point about how silly some people are when it comes to the subject of Wie. This time because we explicitly spelled out our intention, they probably finally recognized they do not want to be played.
