Michelle Wie’s recent acceptance to Stanford gave us pause this week to reflect upon a golf lesson offered up by Ernie Els during the 2005 Sony Open.

Perhaps if Michelle Wie practices with more determination this year, all of her PGA Tour dreams might come true…including entrance into the Masters or even a spot on the U.S. Ryder Cup team?

Our next subject on this holiday edition of Golf for Beginners answers a listener’s email about bounce. When is it best to use a sand wedge and when should a golfer opt for a more bladed club? Can a putter be used out of a bunker?

Finally, we offer up some astonishing facts about a much younger Tiger Woods.

Seasons greetings!

Michelle Wie is already good enough for me to feel safe in guaranteeing that they won't even have a 2007 Ryder Cup Match without Michelle Wie on the American team

Unfortunately Mr. Els did not play in the 2006 Sony Open. The last event practice round he played with Michelle took place at the 2005 Sony Open.

I believe Ernie worked with her on her takeaway during the practice round.

Yes, One-Putt, you are correct that the tip was given during the practice round of the Sony Open.

It's an simple golf tip and that is what our podcasts are all about...easy to remember, easy-to-follow tips.
