“This might be my last win as a golfer,” Yang, who won this year’s Honda Classic, told reporters. “But it sure is a great day. It means the world right now.”

Woods had never lost a major going into the final round with the lead. His putting let him down at Hazeltine National …

“I played well enough to win the championship,” Woods told the media. “I did not putt well enough to win the championship today. I didn’t get it done on the greens, and consequently, I didn’t win the tournament.”

Maddux has had stints on several major teams including the Cubs, Braves, and Dodgers, but none of it provided preparation for this unique tournament that combines golf with Texas Hold ‘Em.

Maddux - who knows a thing of two about golf in Las Vegas - says about the event, “It was like nothing I’ve ever played before … it certainly makes you think over every shot.”

Cink defeated Watson in a four-hole playoff after sinking a 12-foot birdie putt on the last hole of regulation to stay in the fight. Both men finished at 2-under 278 …

“It would have been a hell of a story, wouldn’t it?” Watson told reporters. “And it almost was. Almost. The dream almost came true.”

Though, Watson added after entering the press tent, “this ain’t a funeral, you know.”

Cink, who won his first major, said he had the utmost respect for Watson …

“My hat’s off to him,” Cink said. “He turned back the clock. Just did a great job. I speak for all the rest of the people here, too.”

In the end though, a day trader named Mark Ewing won the event. The tournament continues to attract big names from those fields, including Ray Romano and poker star Daniel Negreanu, who both participated in the 2008 event as well.
“It was a test of patience, that’s for sure,” Glover, who had never made a cut at the U.S. Open before last week, told the media. “It was just heart today.”

Mickelson made a late charge in the final round, with a birdie on the 12th and an eagle on 13, but two missed par putts on 15 and 17 put the trophy out of reach …

“Certainly I’m disappointed,” Mickelson told reporters, “but now that it’s over, I’ve got more important things going on.”

Meanwhile, David Duval came out of nowhere to finish tied for second with Mickelson and 54-hole leader Ricky Barnes. The former world No. 1 was playing as a qualifier and had seen his ranking plummet to No. 882 in the world. Duval had a share of the lead until missing a par putt on 17 …

“I stand before you certainly happy with how I played, but extremely disappointed in the outcome,” Duval said. “I had no question in my mind I was going to win the golf tournament today.”

Meanwhile, Sergio Garcia has apologized for negative comments he made about August National following the Masters …

“Following my final round at the Masters, I made comments in an interview that I regret and want to apologize for,” he told the media Monday. “Out of frustration, I blamed the golf course instead of putting the blame where it belongs, on myself.”

After finishing tied for 38th Sunday, Garcia said he didn’t like Augusta National, calling it “too tricky.”

“It’s time to start believing I can be a top 10 player in the world and maybe I can be in the top five,” Casey told reporters. “We’ll see when we get there. Clearly, I just took a little while to sort of get used to things and feel comfortable. Now, I feel comfortable out there.”

Brittany Lincicome won the Kraft Nabisco Championship yesterday. She clenched her first major with an eagle putt on 18 …

“I can’t even describe it,” Lincicome told the media. “It’s surreal, really.”

“It feels good to be back in contention, to feel the rush,” Woods told reporters. “It’s been awhile, but God, it felt good.”
