Ireland’s Padraig Harrington has won the 2008 PGA Tour Player of the Year award, as voted on by his peers. He is the first European player to do so since the award was established in 1990.
Harrington won back-to-back majors in 2008, the British Open and PGA Championship, and was the only player to accomplish such a feat other than Tiger Woods in the last twenty years. Dating back to the British Open in 2007, Harrington has won three of the last six majors staged.
Harrington beat out such notables as Woods, who won the U.S. Open and despite sitting out the second half of the season, still won four events and finished second on the money list with $5.7 million. Vijay Singh was also a top contender, having won the FedEx Cup and the $10 million bonus that goes with it.

Paddy is the kind of golfer I would want to emulate. He is so focused on the task at hand. Did your mother have anything to do with this Paddy? What a great lesson to carry with you through out your life. This moment, this challenge, this shot. Watch out Tiger! -
