Ireland’s Padraig Harrington has won the 2008 PGA Tour Player of the Year award, as voted on by his peers. He is the first European player to do so since the award was established in 1990. The PGA of America just named Corey Pavin, 49, who has played in the Ryder Cup Matches three times, to serve as captain of the 2010 U.S. Ryder Cup Team. Pavin and his 12-member team will travel to Celtic Manor in Wales Sept. 28 to Oct. 3, 2010, to defend the Ryder Cup, which the Americans - led by Captain Paul Azinger - won in September at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Ky.
