Appleby sends Mickelson packing at Match Play; Wie five back at Fields Open

Phil Mickelson is out of the WGC Accenture Match Play Championship after losing to Stuart Appleby of Australia yesterday. Appleby carded nine birdies to defeat Mickelson 2 and 1, preventing a much wished for final showdown between Mickelson and Tiger Woods …

Meanwhile, Michelle Wie shot an opening-round 3-under-par 69 yesterday to go five shots off the lead at the LPGA Tour’s Fields Open. Jeong Jang is ahead of the field after an 8-under 64 …

Commenting on her play, Wie told reporters:

“You know, I don’t really feel like I have to prove myself to anyone. I just was really proud of myself today that I didn’t think about anything but just playing. I just played today.”

Michelle Wie...the poor little rich girl. Does she plan to play part time golf for the next six or seven years? She will never be in the top 25 should she continue down the path she or her parents have chosen. Unfortunately, her wrist issue will always be in the news and the never ending excuse when she plays poorly. When she feels that 2 under par on a course that she has played a million times, with fairways as wide as a football field, are solid rounds, she is living in a fantasy world. One good note is the fact that BJ and Bo were not seen during her play.

Another reason she is playing so bad is her swing is a horrible bunch of angles right now and her coach has no idea how to fix it!!
When she first came out her swing was PERFECT
