FedEx Cup points leader Phil Mickelson withdraws from BMW Championship
Phil Mickelson, who defeated Tiger Woods down the stretch at the Deutsche Bank Championship last weekend and jumped to the top of the FedEx Cup points race, has withdrawn from this week’s BMW Championship …
Mickelson did not give a specific reason for pulling out, only telling Golf World: “I feel an obligation to the PGA Tour, but I also want to be home with my family.”
In a later statement, Mickelson said: “This decision was not an easy one to make and in no way is meant as disrespectful to the Tour or ’sending a message’ to anyone. I’ve talked for weeks about needing to find a balance between my game, my business affairs and my family, and now is the time for me to take some time off.”
In the TravelGolf.com This Week podcast, host Dave Berner talks to Dennis Ithal about the National Amputee Golf Association’s National Championship.
