PGA Tour rookie Anthony Kim is the early leader at the Crowne Plaza Invitational in Forth Worth, Texas. Kim fired a 7-under-par 63 that included six birdies on his last six holes, the longest birdie streak on the tour this season. World No. 3 Jim Furyk, the only top ranked golfer in the field this week, was 1-under through five holes when play was suspended due to heavy thunderstorms. First round action did not resume yesterday and so continues this morning. …
Argentinean Eduardo Romero shot a 4-under-par 68 yesterday to take the first round lead at the Senior PGA Championship. He made only one bogey, and leads Japan’s Joe Ozaki by a stroke. Nick Price, making his Senior PGA Championship debut, shot 71 and is three back. …
So, there’s a Sorenstam at the top of the leaderboard at the LPGA Tour’s Corning Classic - just not that Sorenstam. Annika’s sister Charlotta shot an eight-under-par 64 to take the first round lead yest. Beth Bader is one shot back, and Shi Hyun Ahn is two.
