Lorena Ochoa rebounds in Mexico; Donald holds on to Byron Nelson lead
After a slow start in a tournament near her hometown of Guadalajara, Lorena Ochoa bounced back in a big way, shooting a 9-under 64 to work herself into a tie for the lead with Julieta Granada and Silvia Cavalleri for the third-round lead at the Corona Morelia Championship. The tournament is the first for the 25-year-old Ochoa since she vaulted to the No. 1 position in the Rolex Rankings of the world’s best female golfers, a move that earned Ochoa a call of congratulations from Mexican President Felipe Calderon. …
Luke Donald held off a charge by Scott Verplank to hold on to the lead heading to the final round of the EDS Byron Nelson Championship. Verplank shot a 66 to pull within one shot of Donald, who fired a 67 - his 11th consecutive under-par round at the Nelson. Michale Allen is in sole possession of third place after shooting a sizzling 64.
