Morgan Pressel fired a 3-under Sunday round of 69 to win the Kraft Nabisco Championship by one stroke over Catriona Matthew, Brittany Lincicome and Suzann Pettersen. Pressel went bogey-free in the final 24 holes of the tournament. But that performance in itself was not good enough to win; she walked off the 18th still three shots out of it. But several players, including Pettersen, collapsed (Pettersen blew a four-shot lead with four holes to play). Pressel, a senior in high school, is the youngest woman to ever win a major on the LPGA Tour. …
Despite WorldGolf.com’s own PGA Punter’s recent bemoaning about the weak field at the Shell Houston Open, the final day of play there yesterday did prove exciting, with Adam Scott firing a 6-under 66 to win the tournament at 17-under, three strokes ahead of defending champion Stuart Appleby. …
Pablo Martin-Benavides became the first amateur to win on the European Tour, firing a 3-under 68 to go seven-under and win the Estoril Open de Portugal. …
Of course, this is Masters week, and the coming days will be full of coverage. Tiger Woods, who has been at Augusta National for a week now, has already weighed in on his game going into this year’s tournament.
