The U.S. Women’s Open will use a three-hole playoff format beginning this year in case of ties, which will leave the U.S. Open as the only major championship with an 18-hole playoff. In 2006, Annika Sorenstam topped Pat Hurst in an 18-hole playoff after the two were tied following the final round.
