Thursday December 28, 2006 | 01:44:34 pm 60 words, 1687 views

Michelle Wie is aiming to give South Korea a boost in its bid for the 2014 Winter Olympics. Wie, whose parents are Korean, will be an honorary ambassador for the country’s bid to host the Games at the Pyeongchang ski resort. South Korea, which lost an earlier race to host the 2010 Winter Olympics, is competing against Salzburg, Austria, and Sochi, Russia.

An American citizen is promoting the Olympics for a foreign country!

How do you think this makes me feel?

Bubbles' parents are Korean? That's funny, I thought they were American. We'd better check their passports and make sure they aren't voting.

Judge Smails,

Therein lies the rub.

My grandfather was an immigrant to this ciuntry from Slovakia.

He was an AMERICAN through and through.

He carried his citizenship papers in his breast pocket.

He would have fought any man who doubted his loyalty to the US.

Now we have people like BJ and Bo Wie.

Isn't America wonderful. We can speak our mind and support whomever we like without fear of retribution. Except from self-centered A-holes.

God forbid if we ever associate ourselves with the country from where our parents immigrated from. We must forget our heritage or not be good Americans. CLOSE DOWN CHINA TOWNS in San Fran, Chicago or New York. KOREA TOWN IN LA SHUT IT DOWN! LITTLE ITALY IN NEW YORK City GONE!

The last time I checked folks South Koreans were the only people that offered up combat troops in every war we have waged for the last fifty plus years including the present in Iraq and Afghanastan.

Maybe Alex you can still recall (I know it is difficult) the ROK Tiger Division in Vietnam?

Are any of you folks related to Adolph? You're beginning to sound a lot like him. Do you have anything against Jewish people? If you do I want to call ahead and warn them.

God please save us from ourselves.

If foreigners want to be citizens of this GREAT county, that is fine. BUT, leave your damn foreign customs, ideas and flags back where ever you came from. THIS IS AMERICA. Here we salute the RED, WHITE and BLUE, WE SPEAK ENGLISH - something we voted on a few years ago to be the official national language. If we would deport the ILLEGALS, the US could reduce poverty, taxes, and gasoline shortages. Yes, everyone has rights....but then where did the rights for Seattle International Airport go? Sorry, but now the foreigners have taken away other peoples rights. THIS IS AMERICA ! ! Love it or leave it. Foreigners - IF you can't leave your FOREIGN customs back in "where ever you came from", THEN YOU NEED TO GO BACK THERE, TOO ! ! !

Ace,

That post of yours has got to be one if the dumbest on this site in quite a while.

If you continue posting such drivel, you'll definitely be a contender for the Alan Cup.

A suggestion: Change the last two letters in your handle to double "s".

Ace,

Yes, we can express whatever ideas we like, and that INCLUDES those critical of your sacred cows. In other words, you have a right to advocate any brand of stupidity you wish, but there is no right guaranteeing that you'll be immune from criticism while doing so.

Secondly, what John D said is absolutely correct. It is destructive, immoral and a slap in the face to go to someone else's country and eschew his culture. And you should open your eyes, because America is being destroyed by a Third World invasion that WILL render your children second-class and possibly impoverish them.

So, it's not a matter of forgetting your heritage, it's a matter of remembering your patriotism.

Alex,

Yes, the immigrants in those days were quite different. They actually thought that being American was a cherished status and something of which to be proud, not something akin to a demotion, something deserving of scorn.

Yes everyone, it is wrong to go to someone elses country to live and not respect their customs. But in this age of rapid globalization and the expansion of living space, the distance between all of our countries and cultures has gotten substantially smaller, and it's going to continue to do so. Unfortunately, our generation is experiencing some growing pains. Problems that are only going to be solved with time and effort. On everyone's part. I don't have a plan to solve these problems. If I did, I probably wouldn't be wasting my time making comments on a blog with people whose retort to anyone else's comments is to call them "dumb". One thing I do know is that by hating the people who see how we live and want to honor and be a part of our great nation while still honoring their home country and practicing their customs, or by hating ANYONEfor that matter, we are becoming what our father's and forefathers fought so hard against, and often on foreign soil. I am a USAF Senior Airman. I have been for 5 years now and I know that in the military, racism is frowned upon. Anyone who is an American citizen can join the military, and they can even speak in their native tongue and practice their native customs. I know some people who can barely speak english and they are serving. Their are Muslims, Blacks, Whites, Hispanics, Native Americans (which I ask everyone to remember when they are up in arms about illegal aliens entering our country, because to them, we are all "illegal" aliens) and just about any other race you can think of, all serving together. And on top of that we are working together with other nation's militaries to protect YOUR rights and freedoms. One thing that we all know and remember while doing this is who the target really is. Those who hate our way of life and want to attack and destroy it. Not those who flee here from their oppressive governments hoping for a better way of life.
