After the second round of play at the PGA Tour Q-School, Rich Barcelo sits atop the field. Barcelo shot an 8-under 64 yesterday for a three-stroke lead over Paul Gow of Australia. Lee Janzen, a two-time U.S. Open champion, is tied for 44th place …

Henrik Stenson has a one-stroke lead over Jim Furyk at the Nedbank Challenge in Sun City, South Africa. He went 5-under-par for a 68 yesterday. Padraig Harrington and David Howell are tied for third place …

Michelle Wie made the stunning announcement this week that she plans to play in an LPGA Tour event at the beginning of the 2007 season, The Onion joked yesterday. Wie will reportedly play in the season-opening SBS Open in February, making “her the first woman to enter such an event since 32 women competed in the ADT Championship last weekend.”

George McNeill is 3rd at Q-School after four rounds. I have watched George play a few times and thought he could play. The first time was in a professional tournament held every January in Fort Myers Florida where I picked his group up on the sixth hole. He proceeded to birdie 6,7,8,9,11,12, and 13. I said "wow", he hit it a mile and did everything else well too. However, when he played on the Nationwide a couple of years ago it was ugly. He then got a club job in Ft. Myers but hated it, and I think this was the key that inspired him to get serious about playing golf. He blew the field away in 1st stage, was leading 2nd stage after 3 rounds and finished 3rd. But these were in Florida so I gave him no chance in California. These rags to ( potential ) riches stories are what make pro golf the best.
