Dublin taxi strike to affect Ryder Cup fans, Ashley Hoagland wins, Montgomerie in the World Cup

A taxi driver strike in Dublin is expected to create severe transport problems during next month’s Ryder Cup Matches. Ashley Hoagland got a little closer to reaching her goal of making the LPGA Tour after winning the Hunters Oak Futures Golf Classic Aug. 20. The event, a part of the LPGA’s top development circuit, is Hoagland’s second professional title and puts her at 13th in the Future’s money rankings. The 23-year-old will have to crack the top five to move up to the LPGA Tour next year …

Colin Montgomerie has confirmed he will play for Scotland in the World Cup of golf for the first time since 2001. Montgomerie’s participation means Scotland won’t have to qualify for the event, held in Barbados in December, because he is ranked in the top 100.
