The Western Open at Cog Hill Golf & Country Club and a NASCAR race weekend at Chicagoland Speedway have traffic tied up for Chicago sports fans

They are down to 32 players at the HSBC Women’s World Match Play Championship, where top seed Annika Sorenstam will play Heather Young, while No. 2 Michelle Wie takes on the tough Christina Kim …

Daniel D. Gregoris, of Binghamton, N.Y., aced hole No. 7 at Ely Park. Again. Using a 9-iron on the 125-yard hole.

“This is my second ace on the same hole in a month. The second was holed in the club championship,” wrote Gregoris, who shared his amazing hole-in-one accomplishment with Worldgolf.com

Jay Haas and Dave Barr are early leaders at the U.S. Senior Open at Prairie Dunes in Hutchinson, Kan. …

Christina wasn't all that tough in the end Dot. Lorena had her hands full in her match.

So Dot what do you think about the Webb-Hurst, Michelle-Se Ri and Paula-Morgan matchups tomorrow?

Should be fun to watch.

I think it's going to be Karrie Webb, Michelle Wie and Paula Creamer advancing. Okay, so you didn't ask me but I'm a diehard golf fanatic so I'm sticking my two cents in!

;-)

And, Juli Inkster, Annika Sorenstam and Sophie Gustafson will all move on.

It will be great if it's down to Sorenstam-Wie on Sunday!

Did anyone notice the Morgan Pressel interview after round 2. She was asked very blatant leading questions about Michelle Wie. Her answers were quite diplomatic--not at all like what we have come to expect form Morgan Pressel.

I got Christina Kim shooting 63 for 16 holes--only one shot worse than Annika's 63. It seems to me that Christina played pretty well against Michelle. I consider it to be a match won by Michelle not a match lost by Christina--and I am quite certain both Michelle and Christina see it the same way.

I meant to say Annika's 62 for 16 holes.

JC, we all accept the fact that Morgan is a great player in her own right. Ranked 12th on the Rolex is a testament to her golfing performance in her first year as a pro. And of course, her fantastic amateur record is well documented. Tying 2nd in the 2005 Open was an unbelievable feat for a 17 year old girl. And ohh, what could have been... a 17 year old US Open Champion if Birdie Kim had not gotten lucky with a 30 ft chip shot out of the bunker that needed help from the stick to guide it into the hole. Wasn't for the flag stick and the ball would have skipped over the hole and rolled for another 10 to 15 feet.

I hope that her answer to the "loaded" question about Michelle was finally her way of letting the past go. This will enable her to make the move to the next step of getting in the top 10. Playing well in these tournaments is as much a mind game as anything else and she will do much better if she concentrates on beating the golf course instead of trying to beat Michelle.

Beat the golf course for 4 days in a row and you usually end up as the champion... which means that you just beat Michelle Wie (that's if she's entered in the same tournament?). The wins will come for her just as it will come for Michelle too.

Tiger said it best: "I play against the course, concentrate on each shot, stay in the moment, give myself a chance and put myself in a position to win on Sunday."

"Comment from: Stacy [Visitor] It will be great if it's down to Sorenstam-Wie on Sunday!"

What would make it even better is for Michelle to get the Monkey off her back and win the whole thing. Then she would have beat the best women in the World and Michael Campbell wouldn't feel so bad about her playing in the Omega.

I really enjoyed watching Michael CHOKE away another one last week. The two drives off the concession tent was classic. He topped Phil's CHOKE at the US Open.
