Introducing O.R. Smith, old rules golf instructor
Allow me to introduce O.R. Smith to you, WorldGolf.com readers:
O. R. Smith is an Old Rules Instructor. He teaches the same method to every student who comes his way. Uniqueness and individuality are not allowed. In his mind there is one, “scientifically proven", best way to swing a golf club.
He lectures about how important the short game is but teaches full swing lessons all day long.
Because golf is so “mental", he has read a few books on the mental side of golf and dishes out his quick fix mental tips where he deems necessary.
He does not do a physical or equipment assessment.
When he does a video analysis, there are a lot of lines drawn to show how your swing deviates from his method and a lot of “faults” pointed out.
He does not have a program for your improvement or supervised practice available between lessons. He keeps giving that same lesson over and over and over.
He uses terminology that you don’t understand apparently in an attempt to show you how smart he is.
He is not a bad person. Quite the opposite, he is a good person who is misguided as to how you learn the best.
We will have 8 segments released throughout the year of “The Adventures of O.R. Smith, Old Rules Instructor.”
