Yep, you are right on. Too little time at the end. Too much input from the "bad guys" of television and internet. By the way, the bad guys of the tour are guys with beards, guys with long hair, guys who speak their minds, and guys who question GoldFinch.

If you think that's bad, try listening to the inane chatter from the pgatour.com pipeline broadcast. Where do they dig these guys up?

The "bad guys" on tour are the players who won't acknowledge the fans. I've formed this opinion after attending tour events for the last 10 - 15 years. This includes volunteering at the Player's (Championship) for 3 years and attending 2 PGA Championships. At Sawgrass I witnessed one of the top 2 players in the world walking 5+ feet away from a fence while a throng of kids were politely asking for his autograph. He ignored them until his caddy (I'll call him Steve) yelled "Camera" as a tv crew approached. Without breaking stride, he walks over to the fence, flashing the "smile" as he continues walking, and signs a couple of programs and hats. The camera quickly leaves and, again without breaking stride, moves back away from the fence and quickly leaves. It reminded me of Don Johnson's character from "Tin Cup". After a competitive round at Sawgrass, I watched in disbelief as "World #2 - Phil Mickelson" signed autographs and talked to fans for about an hour. The kids he said hello to looked like they were on Cloud 9. I played at Pebble Beach last summer and our caddies told my friends and I that Phil is the most despised player on tour (by the other players). I believe that it is because he makes them look bad.
The Champions Tour recognized that most of their players were not the friendliest sort and instituted changes that has made the tour much more fan-friendly. The players on the regular tour may want to take notice or they will start to lose fans. Fewer fans = fewer dollars.
