Jamaica Opens Arms to Pro Team Golf League

Hello from Jamaica.
After reporting on Saturday and giving a heads up about a breakthrough new concept in golf, the Pro Team Golf League, I hopped a flight to Atlanta and down to Montego Bay, to see for myself if this League would deliver. Answer: a resounding YES!

Playing two days at Cinnamon Hills golf course, part of the Rose Hall resort in the inaugural Celebrity Pro Am was an incredible treat. Hall of Famer Sam Jones of Celtic fame, his compatriot JoJo White, Seth Joyner, Vida Blue, Dwight Hicks (49ers) and Rick Mahorn (4 time NBA champion with the Pistons) you get the picture that this is not a “minor” league.

There is impeccable organization, lead by Chairman and Commissioner Dave Braun, CEO Tom Belton and Director of Operations and League Development Ed Ellis, these three are leading a of team of at least 20 dedicated people who have it all together. An internet squad is working day and night to update, refine and bring the interactivity to the pairings. ProCoaches can still sign up and build the pairings. The Canadian and American players still don’t know who their partners are or their specific opponents until the voting ends tonight at Midnight (sounds dramatic eh?) and at breakfast tomorrow, the game is “on.” Golf Channel airing has yet to be determined.

Accelerating scoring anyone? In normal Ryder Cup matches we all know each match is worth one point, or perhaps a half. The PTGL scoring is completely unique. Remember when Tiger beat Stephen Ames a while back 9-8? If that match had been held here, it wouldn’t be one point, it would 17! So, players have to stay in the match until their last breath, since each hole means points. Secondly, each Team will have one player selected by the ProCoaches with a 2X factor…or his score is doubled. Also, online Coaches can build their resumes with their personal picks. Not fantasy…reality!

The highly integrated and interactive website is amazingly easy to work with in selections. Player bios, player stats are all there for review with a simple drag function for building your 8 man team. And 14 pages of pictures and celebrity sports icons are already up. This is teamwork in action.

So, for you who wish to experience golf envy…check out the website and watch the action…or if you are inclined…pick the players!

sounds interesting and....warm.
Take a minute to get to Negril's beaches, or at least the Black River tour.
