I just left the French Lick resort & took a quick look at the Dye Course set atop the hills behind the resort. It is an awesome site & very intimidating. It is a typical Dye-abolical course. Good Luck if you attempt to play this beautiful course when it opens in Spring '09. The Donald Ross course at French Lick is also a great course.

Those back tees are the just-in-case tees .... just in case the Tour pros ever get there. Seriously, virtually no amateurs ever belong on a 7800-8000 yard golf course. that for plus handicappers only.

Wow--there'd better be a bunch of shorter tees, too, or they're going to have a bunch of 6-hour rounds.

Back in 2002, I played the Ross course in late Dec.--had the whole course to myself (they gave me the key at the resort to the cart barn to get one out myself, and lock up when I was done). By the 11th hole, there was a very light snow falling. One of my favorite rounds ever.

At that time, I predicted that if the state would allow gambling again in the town, it would be transformed into a fantastic golf destination (http://www.travelgolf.com/departments/coursereviews/indiana/french-lick-springs-resort-and-spa.htm). Glad to see I was right. Can't wait to see the Dye course myself someday!
