I think Leadbetter has been talking up her abilities for years closing with "... the boys may just have to watch out."

I wonder if next year's exemptions are lined up?
I am really starting to feel bad for Michelle Wie though. She had the best swing in golf less than a year ago, everything was going her way..and now she can't even make a cut. She needs to step away from golf for a couple months and step away from her father for the rest of her golfing career.

For whatever faults Leadbetter may have, at least he was advising Wie to get off the silly idea of playing mens' events. She has no business there.

Now, if they fire Leadbetter, it's an admission that her swing, not her wrists, are the problem.

Really, it's her head. Stupid and stubborn is not a good combo.

michael g,

I agree with you, she did have one of the best, if not the best swing in golf. However, one of her goals of 2006 was to carry the ball 290 yards to be competitive with the men. Technically, she was probably hitting the ball as far as her strength would allow last year, but they tried to fix what was not broken. For a while, she was wildly swinging her dirver trying to increase the clubhead speed 10 mph. Now, she is hitting a 3-wood about 250 yards and usually into the ruff. Continued competition against the men was unwise.
there is some terrible decision making going on with Michelle. If the wrist is not healed she shouldn't be playing. If as in the case of Paula Creamers'injured wrist last year, wherein she played because the doctors informed her that playing wouldn't make it worse , then go ahead until it gets stronger. But the real truth is Michelle has lost her swing and should not get back into competitive golf until she has regained her form. Kudos to Leadbetter for dismantling the best swing in all of womens golf. Even her swing coach from 2 years ago could not believe that she was going to the first tee with a swing like she has now.
