I must point out one thing: Bubbles isn't hitting the ball all that long. Last I checked, she was only averaging 250 at the Open.

Just because you hit the ball a long way and have finished well in a few events does not make a career or a top level player. The LPGA tour and the news media need to realize there are better young players who are getting it done. They do not need Michelle Wie until she shows performance not just potential.

At St.Andrews the "BIG 88" will certainly be a factor for Team Wie. She already will have to qualify for three of the four majors in 2008. It is like she is in quicksand up to her neck and saying "well it really isn't that bad after all."

Totally agree Joe R. MW shooting 82 should not be newsworthy. First it is now her average score in events. Second she is not an accomplished golfer shooting a ridiculously out of character round, like Webb did. That is somewhat newsworthy. Better stories are Annika back in top form. Ochoa in the hunt. Gulbis fighting in style after her injury. Etc. Etc. Etc. The LPGA does not need MW. The only people that need MW are her greedy parents. and that is sad.

Over 4 hours since you posted your story and I am only the 2nd person to reply on an MW story. I think that says a lot about where she is now. Maybe the media should write about so many of the other really great stories on the LPGA. Oh that would take a bit of work though......maybe not
