Do you mean to say Michelle Wie WASN'T on the Ryder Cup team? Who gets fired for that one?

Okay, agreed, for the beer thing to work, we'd have to tinker with the US squad a little. We'll bring in John Daly (who would be a good captains pick even with the current rules, he's a gamer), The Walrus' son, Bubba Watson, and anyone who golfed at Arizona State -- those guys can party.

Little pansies like David Toms and Scott Verplank may have to sit out.
I agree with Jaypee regarding the beer comment. Does any one think that the American guys could handle Darren Clark, Ian W., or any any of the other Irish or English guys if both sides were required to have a few pops? Shoot, I think that those guys sometimes take a few drinks on the course. Our only hope would be if we had John Daly on our team and even he would only be one guy.

What I totally agree with you on is the "meaningful match-ups"... but everyday. One captain puts a team on the table and the other captain responds with his team. Same for singles (they could do that the night before and televise it with 55 commercials every half-hour).

What I totally disagree with is the issue of the match after beer drinking. Because I have never heard of an american PGA player going for a beer with a fellow (friend ?) PGA golfer in the last 20 years. Furthermore, I believe that this activity should become part of the qualifying point system for the US team.
