The links between golf in Scotland and Canada's Prince Edward Island

Send feedback »
Golf courses from Myrtle Beach to Malaysia use "Scotland" as a marketing tool. Prince Edward Island's connection is a little more authentic. Maybe it's because the golf trip I was on before this was to Scotland - or perhaps it's because I teed it up… more »

A little victory in the fight versus the critters who steal food from our golf carts

An ongoing war is being waged between golfers and those little on-course critters that loot our golf carts for candy, keys, wallets, etc. Today, I battled a malicious crow who came after my Snickers bar. Myrtle Beach has some particularly smart squirrels who have been known to run off with everything from candy bars to cell phones (keep an eye on ebay for a user named "SquirrelboyMB" and it's probably one of them pawn… more »

Duff Goldman puts the icing on the golf cake

Send feedback »
Hosting a golf tournament and looking for someone who will put the icing on the cake? I was sent this sweet image of Duff Goldman, showing off his skills at the KitchenAid Fairway Club PGA Senior Championship this week at Valhalla. In 2012, the event will be held at Harbor Shores Golf Club. Perhaps in an attempt to spread a little word of mouth, Goldman unveiled this creation of Harbor Shores' 7th hole, which sits beside the dunes of Lake Michigan. Though I'd never heard of him, Goldman is the proclaimed "Ace of Cakes" and judging by this cake he built, a replica of Harbor Shores' 7th hole. more »

I'll admit that I'm not the biggest fan of Pete Dye. I will say that almost every time I talk to a golf course architect about their greatest influences, Pete Dye is always at the top. And writers and raters all seem to adore him. For me, it's a litt… more »
