Interview with Greg Norman: Shark makes his Olympics pitch, bearish on U.S. and more
If you’re going to run into The Shark these days, it probably won’t be in the U.S.
We caught up with Greg Norman last week in Bahamas’ Great Exuma Island, where he was overseeing the final stages of improvements to revamped Sandals Emerald Reef Golf Club. He was clearly relaxed, visiting one of his favorite site projects (the first project he ever bought property at) and had brought his wife and daughter along.
But even in shorts and a suntan, it’s clear to tell he loves talking business. And why not? With about two dozen projects across the world right now, he’s probably got a better pulse on the industry than anyone. So when the Shark talks shop, you listen. He raved about the optimism for golf in developing countries - compared to the U.S., where we still have our “head in the sand.” He also makes a pretty strong case for why he and Lorena Ochoa should be put in charge of Brazil’s upcoming Olympic golf course.
