GolfNow.com goes mobile: Book tee times instantly on your iPhone
Booking tee times at GolfNow.com just got even faster. Apple iPhone users can now download the free app and instantly browse and book courses in GolfNow’s entire database.
We all have buddies who regularly talk about how they don’t play enough golf when you’re with them at the bar. Now you can take instant action and have a tee time booked and confirmed before they head back to their day jobs, wives and other real-life distractions that make them forget about the game.
You’ll have access to the same last-minute deals, but the GolfNow mobile interface is a little different than the Web site. The App uses your phone’s GPS to determine your location and find available golf courses nearby. You have to enter in a radius of how many miles you’re willing to drive from your current location and it will find courses within that range. You can also sort courses using a map or by price.
From a traveling golfer’s perspective, the shortcoming I’ve found to the mobile App is that if you’re looking for courses in a different city than where you are presently, you’ll have to search by zip code, which can be a little confusing (quick, what is San Antonio’s zip code? And how many zip codes are in a city?). Hopefully the next version solves that issue with better search options. GolfNow.com’s Web site is still superior in that you can browse courses off all states and destinations within those states so quickly.
If you already have a GolfNow user account, you can use the same log-in details on the mobile site, and use the same credit card details on file to book immediately. If you don’t have a card on file, you’ll have to enter in those details to book the tee time. Just be sure to save your credit card details on the App so you can book in a flash next time.
I was going to book a tee time myself on the new App until this cold front came through Texas and virtually the entire United States. Now, I’m still staring at the brand new wedges I got for Christmas in the corner of my room, unused. Ugh.
You can download the GolfNow App from the iTunes App Store or download it at GolfNow.com.
