After third Padraig Harrington major win, Justin Rose website needs an update
I first stumbled across JustinRose.com when I was writing a column about how it was Rose who should be feeling the pressure at the British Open and not the near-miss master Sergio Garcia.
Rose, or at least his “people” obviously think pretty highly of him. “Europe’s No. 1 Golfer” is splashed across the top of his website.
It’s a pretty bold, and now downright bogus claim after Padraig Harrington has gone from “really good” to “hall of fame” worthy over the course of about 13 months.
Back in the good ol’ days of 2007 when Europeans were suffering through a major championship drought, you could make the case Rose was among the best of the major-less Euros. But now I think it’s well past time to remove the “Europe’s No. 1 Golfer” headline from the Great White Bloke’s website - or why don’t we just say “Deep Purple” was the No. 1 Band of the 70s".
Padraig is easily Europe’s No. 1 active golfer, Sergio is undoubtedly the second best. And according to European Ryder Cup standings on August 10th, Rose was 7th in Europe.
Either Rose’s webmaster is asleep at the switch or his management team went to the Michelle Wie School of Hype.

According to the World Golf Rankings, he IS the best in England. But I don't agree; in fact, his ranking of 12th is very flattering, as it appears that he lacks the ability to win regularly and to hold his nerve in major championships.
I would certainly rate Westwood, Casey and Poulter as better players. Rose might scrape into the top five of English players.
