Mickelson grinding, Poulter is the afternoon fan favorite. U.S. Open P.M. update

OAKMONT, Pa. - Bummed out you can’t get live updates on the U.S. Open? The media covering the event don’t have it much better. Everyone is whining about a bad WiFi connection in the tent.

Basically, here’s whats going on in the P.M. rounds if you can’t watch the tube:

If Phil Mickelson’s wrist makes it out of this 18 holes in one piece, surely his head won’t. He can’t hit a fairway, but he’s scrambling like a mad man just to be 4-over after eleven.

It’s sad to watch, considering we all wanted him near the top on Sunday. But it’s also incredible to see the determination he has despite his health.

Ian Poulter on the other hand is the big story in the P.M. rounds. Few thought anyone teeing off in the afternoon could go low, but Poulter’s hanging in there at 1-under.

He’s also becoming a fan favorite, especially among females.

“He’s yummy,” two young girls sheepishly giggled to me as they saw him stretch those plaid pants out to pull his ball out of the hole for another par.
