Mickelson doesn't show at Treetops, Wallace leaves Pistons, Yzerman retires, Tigers on top

All hell in Michigan has officially broken loose.

The Tigers are on top of the MLB.

Ben Wallace is no longer a Piston.

#19, The Captain will no longer lace up the skates.

Phil Mickelson decides that a week with his swing coach, Rick Smith at the Par-3 Treetops Shootout in Gaylord isn’t what he needs now?

Man, I leave Michigan and in ONE week this happens.

The Buick Open, the PGA’s lone stop in the Glove State is coming up at the end of the month. At the rate things are going. . .I’m picking Michelle Wie.

Detroit Sports can do without Ben Wallace, the ‘Fro left selfishly and is an offensive liability anyway. The NBA doesn’t cater to defense and it’s Lebron and Wade’s league the next ten years. All any other team can do is try and sellout when they’re in town.

Yzerman - a big-time golfer like most Red Wings - leaves a mark on Detroit bigger than Gordie Howe, Joe Louis, Trammell & Whitaker, Isaiah Thomas, heck even Jimmy Hoffa.

He’s the ultimate sportsman, the definition of a winner, and a role model for the ages. Like Mickelson, his ability to win the “big one” was questioned, and soon answered, and answered again, and again.

Unlike Mickelson, he never blew a Stanley Cup Final series up 3-0.

Yzerman bigger than Isiah Thomas. Please. He's barely on Adrian Dantley's level. Alan Trammell comparison also ridiculous, but not to same degree at Isiah offense. Isiah was a top three player in NBA during his prime years. Yzerman was never top three in the NHL, which is barely a real league.

What are you smoking in Europe, son?

Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux, Steve Yzerman. He was top three for several years. Hopefully his front office future is a little brighter than 'Zeek.

I take offense ot the Hoffa comparison. Ridiculous! And Jimmy, who is sitting right next to me, agrees.

Chris, you missed the REAL gaffe. Yzerman leaving a bigger mark on Detroit than Gordy Howe? Ha! No way.
