Sunday’s first tee times are a few hours away, but there’s nothing more fun than throwing a bunch of predictions out the night before, especially when everyone has penciled in Phil by now.
And I agree with Tim, by the way, about having some balls when making predictions. Here’s some not-so-obvious picks:
WINNER: The final grouping of Mickelson and Kenneth are just too lovable. Have you seen their press conferences? Did they just won a spot on American Idol? Don’t be so damn nice!
I like my champions grizzled and tough, not pudgy and cordial.
On the 18th on Sunday, Mickelson will be penalized a stroke for slow play after trying to help a kitten from a tree. That stroke will be enough for: GEOFF OLGILVY
Other calls:
Colin Montgomerie will shoot 34-39. The NY crowd will heckle him (I guess not all my calls are far-fetched)
Mike Weir will finish 2nd among lefties.
Ferrie will be 1-under after six holes but shoot 38 on the back.
I won’t be watching much of the front nine because I’ll be busy becoming a Detroit Tigers fair-weather fan and watching Cubs fans suffer never gets old.
And the long-shot call of Sunday at the U.S. Open — ONE STREAKER!!!
