I made up my mind that I’d blog tonight— sometime during my morning drive up to Traverse City, MI for my first summer golf trip of 2006.
I also decided the topic would be largely based on the solid summer vacation destination of Traverse City, and how it’s striving to prove it’s no second fiddle to Gaylord and Boyne’s golf scene.
But this would be a very different entry had my boys lost to Lebron & Co. tonight. My CAPS LOCK would probably have been on the whole time and my scribe would have been largely unlegible because I ate all the complimentary hand soap in a torrid binge .
But now I’m happy and am ready to play 36 holes tomorrow (hitting some fine northern Michigan wineries in between) in a destination that told me today they’re finally hitting the 21st century and are now offering (drum rolllll) Golf packages!!!
Yes, 15 courses and a handful of hotels are now working together to offer big discounts (including the big dog, Grand Traverse Resort).
Having hung out downtown tonight after the big win, although I’m still inconclusive on the golf offerings, I can say that what it does have over Gaylord is a downtown. . .and. . .pretty girls under 40. . .and. . .music with a bass line. . .not bad.
I’ll have plenty to say at MichiganGolf.com in the upcoming week, so stay tuned.
For now, I leave you with this. . .how much more entertaining would this Pistons/Cavs series have been had Darko still been with Detroit??? No. 1 vs. No. 2. I know Darko wouldn’t have played but they would have showed him on the bench more than they showed AJ Hawk’s girlfriend/BRady Quinn’s sister during the Fiesta Bowl in January.
Just a thought.
