Chris, I’d like to know why you golf in the first place?
In the past few weeks, you’ve revealed you’d rather go under the knife than under the microscope with a pro. And now you say you’d rather find your shanked 7-iron in the middle of the fairway so long as a gopher boy (I’m paid for this, right TG?) goes Pinnacle diving and throws it on the green.
You say your game is so bad. . .I wonder if course conditions even matter to a player who will be playing his ball from O.B. all round anyways???
Speaking of paying people to play sports. . .
One thing sickened me more than the Pistons’ beatdown in game 3 vs. the Pacers.
That’s when Jim Gray spoke with breakout center Jeff Foster’s dad, and praised him for PAYING his high school son to grab rebounds instead of scoring points.
What a role model, Mr. Foster – rather than a postgame soda or pat on the back, you’re paying your kid to to realize the glory you probably never had. Forget the countless other non-monetary rewards a growing kid receives from doing his best in sports, lets just show him what’s really important – the “chedda", the “scrilla", the “benji’s".
This practice is done in Junior golf tournaments constantly, where teenagers can’t accept trophies too big in order to keep their amateur status – but can accept a Mustang from their pops if they break 80.
And to country club dads everywhere: don’t pay your kids based on performance, because it’s these same sissy boys I saw crying on the course and throwing clubs or cheating in tournaments. The game itself will reward them plenty if taught right.
I think I’m going to call Foster’s high school and college and tell them they have to forfeit every game Foster ever played.
