Phil Mickelson, his golf clubs, and Masters win has them talking

Golf bloggers exist for tournaments like the Masters, and a bunch of our favorites couldn’t resist getting their two cents in about Phil Mickelson’s fantastic victory at Augusta.

So what did they have to say? Here are some samples:

The Armchair Golfer:

“Lefty was the smartest, most-controlled player on Augusta National. On Sunday, no doubt. Did you ever think you would live to see it?”

MattB at Golf Times:

Finally it looks like we have a legitimate rival to Tiger Woods. Let the good times roll.

Media Guru at the Hooked on Golf Blog:

“Remember when everyone called Lefty “The best player to not have won a major?” Those days are long gone.”

Mike Sigers at Travelling Golfer:

“It’s a great day to be Phil. Now let’s see if Hootie can find a way to outlaw having two drivers or if he has the course Phil-proofed.”

Finally, the Undaunted Duffer had this to say:

” Quite a feeling of accomplishment for Lefty I’m sure, but I’m stuck eating a hefty helping of humble pie. No way did I think Phil could have turned out another win this year at Augusta, especially after last weeks’ performance at Sugarloaf.”

It's great to see how some bloggers claim how wonderful Mickelson is now, after he's won another green jacket but before wouldn't place their bet on him.

At least they're swallowing their collective pride and giving Lefty his due!

As a fan of golf, I felt like I got a 900 lb. gorilla off my back when Phil finally broke through to capture his first major two years ago.

Whether you like Lefty or not, it's tough to watch someone so talented come close and not win. (Think Greg Norman.)

Besides, it's good for golf. I think most would agree that the Phils, Ernies and perhaps some new young guns need to step up and challenge Tiger.

The last round at the Masters, Tiger didn't start going after the flags until it was too late. PM was going after them from the first hole.
