Politicos may be a club short, while youngster golfs for charity
PantherGirl at The Dog’s Breakfast wrote in to tell me about her son using his talents to make donations for Hurricane Katrina victims.
“Lucas set up a fundraising station for the Katrina victims, and offered to hit a 100-yard or better drive for every donation of $1 or more. He raised $110! (and hit every drive at least 150 yards, straight as a pin.) I was so proud of him,” PantherGirl wrote.
She added that Lucas will keep this up until he can send $1,000 to the Red Cross. Great work, Lucas! That’s $110 more than President Bush made during his recent, infamous round of golf. Plus, I’m pretty sure there will be some people from Nike calling to try and sign you to a long-term contract.
In keeping with the political theme, Geoff Shackleford talks about a new Golf Digest article that ranks the best golfers among Washington politicos.
“Congress would be better served if we played more rather than less,” said Texas Rep. Chet Edwards.
I suppose that’s possible. Now if they can only find a hobby that will better serve their constituents.
