It appears the golf-blogging community has forgotten that Canada is the 51st state (that’s what they teach us in the UK) and have ignored the men to talk about women.
At The Sandtrap, Stacie Solomon tells us how Christie Kerr held off Annika Sorenstam and Paula Creamer to win the LPGA’s Wendy’s Championship this weekend. Though I find it curious to say Creamer is “slumping” with a second-place finish. But it was nice to see Annika stay at the course after her round was done. Hint, hint, Tiger.
The Grouchy One chimes in on rumors of Michelle Wie turning pro sooner rather than later. Seems as though the William Morris Agency is tempting Michelle with big money and the keys to the super-executive washroom.
Douglas at The Golf Blog takes LPGA coverage to a higher level, however. His thought for what the ladies need to do to generate some excitement? Give a sponsor’s exemption to a man, like Tiger, Phil, Jack or Arnie.
“The golf press (and the entire sports media) would likely be intrigued simply by the offer of an LPGA sponsor’s exemption to a man; the story would only grow if (when?) the offer gets turned down by men unwilling to tee it up with the women,” writes Douglas.
I’ve seen worse ideas. I hear the Cheap Bastard would love to tee it up with the ladies. Maybe then he’d stop calling me asking to take me to Dennys.
