Golf bloggers are ending the year on a high note, and things should just keep on getting better.
First things first: Who else can match Golf Chick’s improvement on the links this year? My guess is, not many of you can.
Seems the Chick has seen her handicap go from 33 at the start of the year to 16 by the end. Seventeen strokes? I think we have a winner. Maybe the Chick can give Greg at New 2 Golf some pointers for 2006. If she can’t help, maybe he can try some of Golf on the Brain’s advice.

We’re pleased to include Luke Swilor at our Worldwide Golf Blogs listings.
Luke is sharing his experiences as a young golfer trying to make it to the PGA Tour. In his most recent blog, you can just feel his excitement for the 2006 season. Keep us posted, Luke!
Over at Texas Golf, BogeyMcDuff has a great blog on why he’ll hire a fulltime caddie should he win the lottery. Seems the lovely Mr. McDuff has that common penchant for thinking he hits his clubs further than he really does.
“Coming up short is a commonality among amateurs. It’s as if we have ...

For golf bloggers, silly season seems to be getting even sillier.
Miranda at Even Par Round is blogging about the bet between Sergio Garcia, Tim Clark and Adam Scott on who can grow their hair the longest. Should be interesting. I can pretty much guarantee that regardless of the outcome, all three will look better than Tiger Wood’s blonde moment a while back.
Over at Golf Times, MattB has made an important scientific discovery about the relationship of water and new golf balls.
“If there ever comes a time when you think you might be in the desert for an extended period of ...

From folk songs, to terrorist warnings, golf bloggers are going the extra mile.
The Armchair Golfer has seen his new streak of golf-less days hit 50, so he celebrated with folk song about John Daly, based on “John Henry, the Steel-Driving Man.”
John Daly was a golfer
He gripped and ripped and let fly,
“Tee ‘em up and swing from the heels,
I’ll out drive you or I’ll die.”
The poor dear may have gone batty, I’m afraid. Someone get a tee time for Armchair, ok?
Over at The Golf Blog, Mulligan does a good job to help us poor Tivo-less souls. He gives two thumbs up ...

Golfing Michiganer had a nice find when he saw that Joe Gibbs, owner of Chocolay Down Golf Course in Marquette, Mich., is setting to build the world’s largest golf hole – a par 6 that will measure 1,007 yards, plus have room to grow should anyone challenge the record.
The previous longest hole is in Sano, Japan, which apparently sent Gibbs off on some type of delayed patriotic spree.
“I don’t mean to start World War III over this, but the World War II veterans like the fact that we’re beating the Japs again,” said Gibbs, whose course is set to open ...

It feels like a delicious day to take a look at some new golf blogs, as well as revisit favorites.
First of all, Wounded Duck kind of frightens me. But I sort of like that. His interests: panic attacks, cold sweats, public humiliation, and coming to terms with the oblivion of death.
WD has been talking about clubs he has tried and wants (and you definitely need to have something to hit between a fairway wood and a 5-iron, dear). He also noted the Sky Caddie, a GPS yardage guide that he wants, but the $350 price tag is currently too hefty ...

Sometimes a girl gets so breathless by what’s going on outside that she overlooks what’s going on in her own backyard.
So right now, we have dueling opinions from two of our TravelGolf All-Stars on this past weekend’s Skins Game.
First, our newest addition Shanks writes about how nice it was to watch Tiger Woods and the gang let loose and have some fun, especially with Fred Funk looking to read putts in his best dress.
On the other side of the coin is Ron Mon, who enjoyed some of the shenanigans, but wanted to see the golfers turn up the heat ...

So many golf bloggers having so much to say and I keep going on rants. I just feel wretched, so lets see what they’re saying.
Taking some time off from covering the burgeoning golf scene in Canadian cities like Whitehorse, Robert Thompson gives his readers the lowdown on what awards he can win and how you can vote for him, as well as offering some cutting, outside-the-box criticism of our own Managing Editor Mark Nessmith’s recent column decrying the PGA Tour-Golf Digest partnership.

Golf bloggers, you have been called out, it appears. Fairly or unfairly, it seems Managing Editor Mark Nessmith thinks you all missed the boat on the recent “partnership” between the PGA Tour and Golf Digest.
It is a more important story than the attention it has received and is clearly an example of the continued dilution of the mainstream news. You just can’t be considered an unbiased news source if you’re in bed with those you should be covering.
“I figured bloggers, those can’t-be-bought-at-any-price chroniclers of what’s going on, would at least see through the fog on this one,” Nessmith wrote in ...

Today, I veer from the norm somewhat, with only apologies to all the other golf bloggers for leaving them out, as I hold them in the highest of esteem. Keep typing, colleagues!
But today, one golf blogger will take center stage. The Reluctant Jam Boy penned a blog yesterday that was everything a blog should be. It was personal and thought-provoking.
It seems Jam Boy – who has long been a caddie – has recently been promoted to Assistant Caddie Master at the club he now works at. A couple days ago, he had a very bad day, misreading putts and feeling ...

The Grouchy one lives up to his name with a little talk about Michael Bamberger’s new book This Golfing Life. Seems Grouchy feels Bamberger’s recent help in getting Michelle Wie disqualified falls in the same category as rapper Kanye West’s outburst against George Bush (West, ironically, had an album coming out that week).
The relentlessly suave Brent Kelley is at it again, this time tempting golfers (and the ladies) with a barrage of equipment-related blogs, including a look at TaylorMade’s new irons.
Finally, lets welcome Golfff to these pages. He wastes no time in getting to the good stuff, as he talks ...

The Golf Blogger relays the recent happenings of Casey Martin. It looks as though Martin’s competitive playing days are done, but TGB lets him know it was a job well done.

Unimpressed by recent golf news, it appears, golf bloggers are hitting the links themselves lately.
First of all, a hallowed streak has ended. The Armchair Golfer finally got out of the chair and on to the course after 169 days. And then he shot an 86. So, perhaps the real trick of this game is to play every six months or so only.
Greg at New 2 Golf makes his way to this blog, and it seems he’s quickly getting the hang of things as he writes about how he recently shattered the 100-mark with a sizzling 94.

Erik J. Barzeski is analyzing Lucas Glovers’ first career victory on the PGA Tour after he won the Funai Classic. Without Tiger Woods or Vijay Singh competing at the end, Erik gives it all a big yawn.
Looking to get a new Noodle? Well, the Golf Blogger is taking a look at MaxFli’s new Noodle balls. They’ve now added “Noodle Ice” to their variety pack, though I’m not sure if the alcohol content is higher like many other “Ice” brands.

Media Guru may not be going down the conspiracy route, but he’s wondering if just anyone can point out rules infractions during a golf event.

The golf bloggers of the world, apparently stunned by John Daly’s unsettling missed putt, have taken to the course themselves recently.
First, I feel it’s time to throw down the gauntlet to Golfchick. While we want to congratulate her new low score of 86 (after finishing par, birdie, par, bogey, bogey, par, bogey), we also want to let her know that, in light of her becoming a better and better golfer, the next congrats she receives from this blog will be when she breaks 80. That should be all the incentive you need, Chick!

Ah, when nobody is hunkered over an important putt, the golf bloggers start getting catty.
Of course, I’d never call Grouchy catty, but he has a few stinging zings for Phil Mickelson (do you think he’s fake?), some respect for Tiger Woods for being a regular human in the clubhouse, and some applause for Ernie Els for being everybody’s favorite good guy.
Miranda at Even Par Round is making her first stop in this blog today. She’s talking about the Chrysler Classic of Greensboro and is rooting for Sergio Garcia and Justin Rose to do well. Be careful, Miranda, if it ...

First, Mulligan does some Monday morning quarterbacking, questioning Gary Player’s pick of Trevor Immelman and declaring the U.S. would have been doomed had Ernie Els played.
Erik J. Barzeski gives a recap of how well the guys at the Sand Trap did on their President’s Cup predictions. One of the prognosticators did quite well – Erik J. Barzeski. Also, Matthew Ipsan takes a look at what some golf ...

The President’s Cup continues to have bloggers in a boil, though I like InstaMarv’s take on it the best:
“My hope for the event? Not camaraderie and good will, no - that’s too easy. I want to see Nicklaus and Player getting into a dust-up on the 18th green. Now that would be entertainment … I’d put my money on Player there. While Jack would have a significant weight and reach advantage, I think Players speed and flying scissor kick would do Nicklaus in,” writes the Instant One.

Of course, the reckless Brent Kelley changes gears and looks back at the 2003 Presidents Cup. That man is a rebel, and a dreamy one at that.
Unable to live up to his nickname, Grouchy is celebrating his recent career-day at Brookside, where he put up a 3-over for 18 holes and relearned how to hit his driver. So yes, Grouchy, you can be happy, but be happy for ...

For anyone who thinks that golf bloggers have little to write about with the season winding down, Mulligan gives the lowdown on the Kraft Nabisco Shootout. No word if the winners get all the cheese and crackers they’d like, but Mulligan did find a worthy quote from Julie Inkster about Natalie Gulbis:
“And I wish I could wear my shorts as short as Natalie,” said Inkster. Don’t we all, Julie.
SortaGolf continues its fight against those blasted golfers who follow the rules.

Geoff Shackleford has a nice breakdown of a Golf Channel show about where golf will be in 2025. It appears course managers want to add more distance, while players like Mark O’Meara just think many courses need to be made more difficult for the pros.
“Narrow it by more tree lined golf courses, because the big guys can play out of the rough, but they can’t play out of the trees,” O’Meara said. “More tree-lined, smaller greens, more rough around the greens. So if you miss the green it’s more penile. Not necessarily is lengthening the right answer.”

With little of any real importance going on, golf bloggers are doing their best to make the miniscule seem massive.
First of all, that notorious ladies man Brent Kelley gives us a run down of the golf channel’s Big Break IV. This time they set it up to be a U.S. vs. Europe battle, but Our man Brent is having nothing to do with that.

Just because he’s 85 is no excuse to avoid working on his game.

A lot of golf news regarding Canada from golf bloggers, it seems. I have decided to pay attention, because with the NHL returning, we may not see anything golf-related from up there for a while.
First off, Triniman talks about his trip to La Verendrye Golf Course and how pleased he is with his new clubs.
The Golf Chick vents her anger and anguish over a Pittsburgh man who was arrested for beating a Canadian goose to death with a golf club. For those interested, no club manufacturer has yet produced a press release bragging about their “Revolutionary Goose-Splattering Technology.”
